Insurance Week the first of its kind organised by the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria matched into its second day with awareness campaigns in two secondary schools incl, Reagan Memorial Baptist Secondary School and CMS Grammar School Bariga, Lagos, the later, first secondary school in Nigeria, established in 1856 and, University of Lagos. The CIIN teams were led by the President Mrs. Yetunde Ilori and the Deputy Mr. Jide Orimolade.
It was a home coming for both of them at University of Lagos, they graduated from there. For Orimolade it was a double, CMS was his alma mater. Ilori’ visited Reagan Memorial and they later converged at Unilag.
At CMS the event presented opportunity for the assigned resource persons in the team to implant in the minds of the young students the necessity of insurance for all ages and for all risks or challenges and, also to embrace insurance as a subject of study early and know that insurance runs through life and living. It was not a dull moment, the students during question time displayed a good knowledge of insurance and its primary service to their parents and what they have been exposed to. The question and answer section witnessed a display of penetrating exposure to the service insurance offers.
For students of University of Lagos in Insurance and Actuarial fields the resource persons took time to offer professional advice and expectations in the profession. Event served to break gridlocks in the mind of the students and were advised to not just be content with degrees and professional certificates but to aim higher and avail themselves of the certificates on offer from sustainable development goals programmes that are geared to fit current global needs.
