The new President of the Institute of Loss Adjusters of Nigeria, Ikechukwu Udobi has pledged to evolve a system that goes to the limits to elevate the distinct service of loss adjusters by adopting an acronym that suggests a flight pattern, putting the Institute in vantage position of maximum spotlight. This will include a ten year succession road map.
Udobi in his maiden statement upon stepping into the office of the President of ILAN said the guiding road map of his three year term would be paved by term BIRDS, where B stands for, focused on relocating Loss Adjusters House to a conducive place. The ‘I’ stands for internal process improvement which would overhaul the subscription levy of members taken into consideration inputs being made to review subscription. He holds the view shared by most members that subscription is under funded and under priced. He said if the Institute does not have adopt a budget system it would be difficult to finance the budget without resorting to the present system of borrowing.
He said his term would walk back from borrowing and pursue a review of the system that wants to kill the Institute. “There should be a system in place to check some of those things that makes the Institute owe.”
According to him, ‘R’ stands for roadmap to develop a roadmap of ten years, nine years of presidency bundled together, three years as a council member, elected into the office of the vice president and then transiting to the office of the president. The plan he intends to nurture he explained makes administration seamless and sustainable and stronger.
His term would also evolve a ‘D’ team for digital revolution and this he said, has been laid out by the National Insurance Commission through its innovation policy which has been adopted as essential for all insurance stakeholders.
Capping it is the ‘S’ standing for status upgrade goal. ILAN President said he would focus on charter acquisition, improvement programmes for members and participation in the industry activities to make loss adjusters visible and be active in the development of the industry.
