The Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) on Thursday, January 15, 2026, rolled out a two-day workshop on Compulsory Container Insurance (Section 203 of the NIIRA 2025) just in time to align underwriters with global supply chain disruptions and underwriters interventions.
The Director General of the NIA, Mrs. Bola Odukale, in an opening remark, urged the 40 strong attendees to engage and acquire necessary knowledge strengthen professional capacity to enhance effective implementation of compulsory insurance provisions for the overall benefit of the economy.
Facilitators at the Insurers House venue of the training were; Mrs. Margaret Ogbonnah, Director, Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Soji Oni, Controller 1 Technical at NIA and Mr. Owolabi Longe, CEO, Ironlink Communications, among others.
Mrs. Odukale also noted the critical role in national development adding that a well-regulated insurance industry was vital to economic growth, investor confidence, and public protection.
