The LASPOTEH Insurance Graduates (LIGs) has provided a hefty dimension to the discourse of the Nigeria Insurance Industry Reform Act (NIIRA) at its 2nd Annual Lecture to contribute to the development of insurance industry in Nigeria.
President of LIGs Club, Mr. Adiodun Durodola said the theme of the event: “A Critical Analysis of the Nigeria Insurance Industry Reform Act 2025, Benefits to all Stakeholders and National Development” which was subsequently changed to “Analysis of NIIRA – Benefits to Stakeholders For National Development” for want of time for a critical engagement, by paper presenter, Dr. Usman Jankara, Deputy Commissioner for Insurance Technical; was critical to the growth and development of the industry.
Durodola who held that NIIRA “is the current phenomenon of insurance industry in Nigeria, said “insurance industry laws were long overdue for critical review, because of their far-reaching implications for insurance companies, policyholders and the economy as a whole. However, the current situation has engendered not only significant potentials for insurance operators but also protection for the customers.”
He expressed confidence that the lecture would not only provide “a deeper understanding of the complexities involved but also identify practical steps that we can take to advocate for positive change and development of our industry in particular and the economy in general.”
He also pledged that the Club would serve as a platform “for us to give back, share our knowledge and experiences, and support one another in our careers.”
