The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) and the National Pension Commission ( PenCom) have endorsed the upcoming 2022 annual conference of National Association of Insurance and Pension Correspondents (NAIPCO) scheduled for November 3, 2022 at oriental Hotel, Lagos.
The unique shift of two ace regulators to micro landscape of their sectors will be x-rayed and, in concert with other resource persons focus on the micro venture which NAICOM and PenCom have devoted their resources to upgrade and in a sustained manner implore the operators in these sectors to lead Nigerians who it is meant to serve to venture and get served by the operators.
The conference the seventh edition in the series, has the theme: “On-boarding Small and Medium Scale Enterprises into Micro Insurance and Pension Space in Nigeria.” The keynote speaker is the Director General, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, (LCCI), Dr. Mrs. Chinyere Almona, while Eng. Cyril Ajagu, a major investor in the financial services industry as well as oil and gas will chair the event.
The Commissioner for Insurance/CEO, National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), Mr. Sunday Thomas, and Director General, National Pension Commission (PenCom), Mrs. Aisha Dahir-Umar, will be special guests. Besides, the chairman, Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA), Mr. Segun Omosehin; chairman, Pension Fund Operators Association of Nigeria (PenOp), Olumide Oyetan; among others; have confirmed their presence at the event.
Other stakeholders from the insurance and pension sectors as well as the financial services sector such as LASPEC, CIIN, NIA, NCRIB, PILA, ILAN, PenOp, ARIAN, CIFM, SMEDAN will be there including, Nigeria Union of Pensioners; Trade Union Congress; people living with disabilities; barbers, hairdressers, market men and women, vulcanizers, etc.
The event which will also feature the unveiling of NAIPCO new name and logo will according to, chairperson of NAIPCO, Mrs Nkechi Naeche-Esezobor, provide the platform for the SMEs the driver and engine of growth of the Nigerian economy, to exact its fundamental position in contributing to growing the economy. And also create the space for the financially excluded larger population benefit from the nation’s financial inclusion project. This therefore, underscores the need for microinsurance and micro pension players to see this group as a growth asset.
Also speaking, chairperson, 2022 NAIPCO conference planning committee, Mrs. Iyabo Ogunjuyigbe, disclosed that the conference a convergence of pension and insurance issues promises to meet and surpass expectations with a road map to enhance financial inclusion and also give consumer groups the platform to voice their concerns about insurance and pension services.
