Insurance journalist, under aegis of National Association of Insurance and Pension Correspondents, have received the corporate social responsibility endorsement of Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Plc for the renewal of its group personal accident cover worth N24m, from October 2020-September 2021.
The policy in its 9th year, since 2012, covers death, permanent disability and medical expenses, is a kind gesture from the company showing the value and respect it has for journalist who shape the society and by extension, the insurance industry.
The group managing director, Mr. Eddie Efekoha, said journalism is a risky profession and the people involved should be adequately protected on the line of duty, especially those covering the insurance industry.
The benefits of the cover he said include, N1m to the family of the deceased, a journalist who suffers permanent disability is entitled to same N1m. Medical expenses is capped at N200,000.00 resulting from accident.
Applauding the company’s commitment for past 12 years, the association chairman, Chuks Okonta, said the policy has not only offered protection, it has served as a boost to the members to confidently discharge their duties knowing that they are protected on the job.
He cited a beneficiary, Mrs. Bimbo Oyetunde, a staff of Radio Nigeria who in 2013 received received medical bill compensation from CHI after an accident, and recalled that the “company has lived up to expectation in the past when one of our members benefitted from this policy and that, we are grateful… if the unexpected happens, CHI is always there for us.”
