Loss Adjusters have been charged to take control and command their space such that the future of loss adjusting in Nigeria is secure. “Adjusting must therefore, begin to evolve in alignment with new technologies for adaptation of flexible ways of working to ensure our relevance and sustainability into the future.”
The President, Institute of Loss Adjusters of Nigeria (ILAN), Pastor Oladiipo Olarenwaju, gave the charge while addressing members at the 42nd annual general meeting at ILAN House Surulere, Lagos.
Olarenwaju said, “it is indeed possible to change the future by what we do today. That is to say that the future of loss adjusting in Nigeria is in what we do with it today.”
Pushing for overhaul where it becomes absolute, ILAN President in a clear cut statement said, “We cannot continue treading the old path.”
However, he said there are off limits when it comes to overhaul, he inferred that there are landmarks that serve as beacons to follow and should be admitted as sacrosanct. This is his stand, “one thing we must not change is the fact we are a profession known for its excellence and integrity. Ethical standards, technical skill and excellent service must go with us to the future.”
As the Institute continues with its consolidation of the profession now and in the future, its enlarging its professional borders to create a merrier and large body for those that met the necessary criteria for membership, individual and corporate blocs. In this wise, five ‘individual applicants’ and equally five ‘corporate applicants’ were approved.
Elated Olarenwaju said, “We are committed to maintaining high standards and growth of our Institute hence these individuals and corporate applicants were carefully screened before their admission. Our doors are open for admission of more members. I am also happy to inform you that we are now gender complaint as an Institute as we now have three female CEOs.”
