The enforcement of compulsory insurances has garnered more points in engagements with stakeholders, with the sequence of engagements nearing the spool of the motion pictures in the film industry.
The board and management of NAICOM matching the new focus with clear intent, yesterday visited the Hon Minister of the FCT, Mal Mohammed Musa Bello on enforcement of compulsory insurances in the FCT and the insurance awareness fitness walk coming up next month.
Board chairman Chief Emmanuel Nwosu, who tagged the compulsory insurances as social programmes and policies enforced for all and sundry said Abuja as a mega city qualifies for such and requested that FCT “lead NAICOM’s renewed awareness campaigns, sensitisation and enforcement of compliance.”
Accepting, the FCT Minister with content stated his close relationship with insurance industry and was also delighted to receive NAICOM officials; he assured the Commission of his full support towards enforcement of compulsory insurances in the FCT. He demonstrated a sign on with the NAICOM request by demanding from the Commission details of agencies under his ministry complying with the requirements of compulsory insurances.
It was also agreed that a joint enforcement committee would be setup comprising relevant departments of the ministry, NAICOM and other relevant security agencies.
The Commissioner For Insurance, Mr. O. S. Thomas, said NAICOM is elated with the support and assures from the Hon minister and promised to provide the information requested as quickly as possible.
