Top 10 Largest Insurance Companies In The World

AM Best has ranked the US’s UnitedHealth Group and Germany’s Allianz as the world’s largest insurers.

UnitedHealth Group took the top spot for the sixth straight year with $189.7bn in net premiums written (NPW) in 2019. Meanwhile, Allianz SE and Prudential Financial jumped ahead of AXA S.A. into the first and second slots in AM Best’s ranking by 2019 non-banking assets.

The rankings are based on BestLink data and additional research, AM Best said. There was some year-over-year reshuffling in the top five slots in the non-banking ranks, while the leading five NPW companies retained their slots from the previous year.
