The National Insurance Commission having secured the embrace of wide spread adoption of compulsory insurances and Takaful before Tuesday September 6 2022 event in Katsina, the two collaborating bodies: NAICOM and Katsina State moved an important step further with the inauguration of the Technical Committee on the sensitisation/implementation of compulsory insurances and Takaful in the state.
The Commission came to Katsina confident that it has done the background checks that would place the state as an emerging insurance hub in the north east with insurance operators not only earning more from virtual presence but much more making a firm statement with more insurance firms setting up offices in the state.
The state also showed confidence in the insurance sensitisation venture by the top persons cleared to form the committee; it is chaired by the Hon. Commissioner for Commerce in the state, Alj. Muktar Gidado Abdulkadir and the co-chairman is the Executive Chairman, Katsina State Internal Revenue Service, Mal. Mustapha Mohammed Sirajo.
Other are representatives of NAICOM, Office of the SSG, Office of the Head of Service in the State, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health and other relevant agencies.
The Executive Governor was pretty certain that the state has struck the right cord to get up the insurance awareness scale, this was demonstrated in the assembly of state top executive functionaries at the event including the Deputy Governor and the high calibre of top executive state officers as members of the technical committee.
Demonstrating this was a step further to include the excluded in risk protection, the Governor while inaugurating the technical committee state that the initiative to introduce Takaful insurance was a welcome development that would serve as an alternative especially to attract people of the state who are left out due to religious or cultural barriers. He assured NAICOM of Katsina State government’s full support in the development of insurance in the state.
