Pan Niger Delta Forum leader, Edwin Clark, is dead. Aged 97, the former Federal Commissioner for Information and South-South leader’s death was confirmed in a statement by a representative of the family, Prof. C. C. Clark, on Tuesday, reports The Punch.
The statement read, “The Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town, Delta State, wishes to announce the passing of Chief (Dr.) Sen. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark OFR, CON on Monday, 17th February 2025.
“The family appreciates your prayers at this time. Other details will be announced later by the family.”
The Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori described the Leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum PANDEF as “patriotic and bold” and conveyed his deep condolences to his immediate family, people of Kiagbodo, and the entire Ijaw nation.
President Bola Tinubu condolence expression was also laced with his boldness and patriotism. “Chief Clark spoke for the Niger Delta. He spoke for the nation. His views and interventions on national issues were distinct and patriotic. As an astute politician, his political opponents never doubted the weight, confidence, and conviction of his words when he spoke. Indeed, a patriot has transitioned to the great beyond.”
