The ability of the management to see the day before others has helped digital disrupters to set new orders, while the rest are working on existing order that becomes obsolete when new digital platforms are launched with buy-in hands stretched to receive it in full.

That was the mark deployed by African Alliance Insurance Plc by putting in place the ability for remote working before Covid-19 disruption of normalcy set in and the new normal prevailed for most of 2020 got under way. It is now being eased at a fast sequence, nations and corporations are gradually and in a sustained approach dismantling restrictions across the world now.

The managing director at African Alliance Insurance, Mrs. Joyce Ojemudia, said the company immediate shift to working from home during the lockdown on the platform of business continuity management process recorded minimal effects of the pandemic. She said this at the National Association of Insurance and Pension Correspondents annual general meeting in Lagos which it sponsored. FBN Insurance, Enterprise Life and Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc were co-sponsors.

Ojemudia who was represented by the company’s head, marketing, Mr. Emmanuel Eburajolo said Covid -19 came unexpected and caught many companies unaware but “we had a process that was digitally enabled and this aided the smooth continuation of our business and services with customers even when some companies were still grappling with the situation and trying to find their feet.”

She wants another dimension of business continuity set on the match by the joint effort of the media and the insurance market. Said the industry holds the ability of the media firm, “we all agree you are the loudspeakers of our industry. Without you, whatever goes on in our industry would go largely unnoticed and unreported, pretty much like someone winking in the dark. But this is not easy task, being gatekeepers for an industry that is older than Nigeria as we know it, with various interests and mindsets. However, someone has to do it, and I daresay you are doing very well. But can we do better? Yes we can. Even the best of outcomes can get better.”
