September 26, 2024, was an epoch making event in the insurance industry. The entourage of the visiting Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria led by the President/ Chairman of Council Mrs. Yetunde Ilori was not only formidable in the number of past Presidents and the immediate past President, Edwin Igbiti, so also was the retinue of council members enough to make the ILAN House experience a mild tremor.
The landmark courtesy visit to the Institute of Loss Adjusters of Nigeria (ILAN) at their headquarters in Lagos epitomised a top ladder show of unity and strength within Nigeria’s insurance sector, Mrs. Ilori’ esteemed entourage of CIIN Governing Council members, included past presidents Mr. Adeda, Sir Oyegunle, and Mr. Edwin Igbiti.
In her forward-thinking speech, Mrs. Ilori (featured picture with ILAN President Pastor Olarenwaju) set the stage for strategic dialogue and collaboration and expressed heartfelt gratitude to ILAN for their unwavering support during her investiture. She passionately emphasised ILAN’s critical role in the insurance landscape as it relates to insurers obligation to claims payment to claimants. Loss adjusters stand as the connect cord to what is good and acceptable to the principal and the highly expectant claimant that wants the risk that happened compensated with claim paid. She therefore, called for deeper collaboration across all arms of the industry.
CIIN President also used the platform to unveil her administration’s vision to ILAN, which is encapsulated in the acronym ‘EPIC,’ which stands for Education, Professionalism, Institutional Recognition, and Capacity Building. She highlighted that her goal is not just to lead, but to unify and elevate the entire insurance industry, encouraging all stakeholders to work as one cohesive unit.
The ILAN leadership, led by President Pastor Diipo Olanrewaju, and his team was an even match for the CIIN entourage, comprising past Presidents, Council members, together they gave a warm and enthusiastic welcome. The respected past presidents Alhaji Femi Hassan and Mr. Reginald Egbuniwe were part of the ILAN coalition. The gathering brought together some of the most influential figures in the insurance and loss adjusting sectors, setting the stage for strategic dialogue and collaboration.
Pastor Olanrewaju, in his response, expressed admiration for Mrs. Ilori’s visionary leadership and reaffirmed ILAN’s commitment to supporting her ambitious agenda. He emphasised ILAN’s readiness to collaborate with CIIN and expand partnerships with the College of Insurance to further strengthen the sector.
The meeting wrapped up with mutual expressions of gratitude from both CIIN and ILAN registrars, Mrs. Abimbola Tiamiyu and Mr. Femi Tayo. The exchange left attendees inspired and hopeful, signaling a new era of cooperation and innovation for Nigeria’s insurance sector under Mrs. Ilori’s ‘EPIC’ leadership—a bold blueprint for progress that promises to reshape the industry for years to come.
