President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of a new Commissioner for Insurance, Mr Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, and up and until the new post he holds the helm as Chairman, Nigerian Insurers Association. He succeeds Mr. Sunday Olorundare Thomas.

The statement by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity) cleared that the following qualified Nigerians are also in the new Board of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM): Ms. Halima Kyari — Chairperson Mr. Olawoye Gam-Ikon — Deputy Commissioner (Technical Operations) Dr. Usman Ankara Jimada — Deputy Commissioner (Finance & Administration) Dr. Miriam Kene Kachikwu — Member ] Mr. Adeniyi Olusegun Fabikun — Member Mr. Umar Khalifa Mohammed — Member
The statement outlined a charge from the President that he expects the new Board of the National Insurance Commission to exercise utmost probity as it leads the Commission in ensuring a safe, sound, and stable insurance sector, while protecting policyholders, the public interest, and improving trust and confidence in the sector.
