The hand-shake between the marine module of Nigeria Insurance Industry Database and Nigeria Integrated Customs Information System, has made seamless the verification of marine insurance certificates.
The effect of the integration to the trade portal was likened in the force of dam turbine, with over 20,000 marine certificates validated real time.
Immediate past NIA chairman Tope Smart, underlining this as a milestone, said imported goods with genuine marine insurance now enjoy seamless processing of their documents via online real time data sharing between the NIID and the Single Window Trade portal of the federal government.
Giving a thumb-up to the Nigeria Customs Service for the final buy-in, Smart remarked that it has made their statutory duty to verify insurance certificate for imported goods before clearance at the border done with less hassles.
Now Nigeria Customs Service verify marine insurance certificates issued by NIA members on the Nigeria Single Window Trade portal – the government trade verification website.
