The Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers has enlarged the body of honorary fellows with the admission of Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Mr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, respective governors of Lagos and Enugu States. Also included in the list of 43 are, chairman House Committee on Insurance and Actuarial Matters Hon Rep Darlington Nwokocha, and the Commissioner for Insurance, Mr. Sunday Thomas.
A statement by the NCRIB said the honour was extended to them based on their pivotal roles in the society as well as their support for professional bodies. Nine members who have met all the conditions for eligibility set by NCRIB were also admitted, bringing the fellows of the Council to 139.
At the event, fellows day/induction in Lagos the president of council, Mrs Bola Onigbogi, called for strict adherence to the broking ethical principles and respect for the rights of the insuring public.
Mrs Onigbogi reminded the honoured brokers that their new elevation carries the responsibilities of good ambassadors for the entire insurance industry with special devotion to the broking profession.
Laying emphasis on responsibilities, with special focus on NCRIB sect of honoured, she said as members of the prestigious order, the expectations are high and the onus is on them to shun all vices, participate in all council activities stressing that membership of the fellowship cadre is subject to review in accordance with the extant laws establishing the Council.
