The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) are setting up a programme that will activate the process of institutionalising cyber insurance to help strengthen the digital ecosystem in Nigeria.
This was set rolling today when the management of the National Information Technology Development Agency led by its Director General/CEO, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, paid a courtesy visit to the National Insurance Commission.
The team was received by the Commissioner for Insurance/Chief Executive Officer, Olorundare Sunday Thomas, and his management team. The two Agencies discussed the enormous benefits to the nation and have agreed to partner to ensure it is realised.
The coming together of the two agencies at a time the global economy has experienced widespread cyber attacks and threats showed the high perception attached to the steady occurrence and resolve to find solutions including insurance programme for all that would be constantly reviewed. The potential loss to individuals, businesses and government foists the need to get a programme underway.
