This year ushers in new phase of emergence of new faces in the MD/CEO positions of about a dozen insurance companies along with a double of that number as Executive Directors in compliance with the ten year term limit for MD/CEOs and EDs policy of the National Insurance Commission. In line with that, Capital Express Assurance Board has has appointed Mr. Matthew Ogwezhi as the Acting MD/CEO, he replaces Mrs. Bola Odukale.
The Chairman of the Board, Otunba Ademola Adenuga in the announcement said Mr. Gbenga Owodunni becomes Acting Deputy Managing Director and expressed confidence that the new leadership would engender growth and ensure profitability. He also reckoned that Bola Odukale’ tenure was a legacy laden with achievements.
Mr. Ogwezhi with over twenty years’ experience in the insurance industry, with expertise in strategic partnership management, contract negotiations, channel development, marketing, and leadership joined Capital Express in 2003, serving in roles such as Personal Assistant to the then Managing Director/CEO, Head of Educational Institutions, and Regional Director of South-South/South-East and later, head of marketing, sales and distribution.
Likewise Mr. Gbenga Owodunni, the new Acting Deputy Managing Director/COO, was elevated from his prior role as Deputy General Manager overseeing the Lagos Division where he was involved in budget planning, market penetration planning, and relationship management.
Their combined four decades in the company put them in a position to form a dynamic partnership to deliver the company’ strategic objectives and build on the achievements of the past leadership.
