Mr George Onekhena, (pictured above) fca, former Deputy Commissioner for Insurance, finance and administration, is dead, a statement by the National Insurance Commission disclosed today.
The statement revealed that he died last night in the USA and burial arrangement will be announced by the family.
Expressing their thoughts, the board, management and staff of the Commission commiserate with the family and pray that God grants them the fortitied to bear ‘this irreparable loss.’
His loss will be felt across the insurance industry. After his disengagement from the Commission, Onekhena devoted his resources and time to consultancy, Crown Height Consulting Services, to raise and build manpower with enhanced capacity to take on new dimensions that will raise the bar of the insurance market. He was a high calibre underwriter and administrator, a reinsurance broker of repute and was part of the nucleus of a regulator committed to insurance development.
