The 51st President/Chairman of Council, Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), Mr. Edwin Igbiti, says his term will situate insurance industry and the Institute at the frontiers of technological innovations and trends, making the sector have knowledge of every thing and possibly everything about nothing, “in order to thrive and impact our endeavours and ventures.”

“It is in this light that the theme and focus of my tenure will be building a sustainable legacy,” Igbiti declared as the mantle to lead the Institute was accepted by him today at the investiture ceremony in Lagos.

As he reached out to the three-point agenda that will be his road-map, CIIN President reminded the attendees at the gathering that the need to curb the menace of insecurity and crimes require not only collaboration with all tiers of government but “re-emphasising the essence of insurance as the infrastructural pillar for the growth and development of the country.”

President Edwin Igbiti and his wife surrounded by high calibre insurance professionals.

He stated that the three -point plan are warehouses for the elaborate agenda falling into: digital reinforcement of the institute; insurance awareness for all – grassroot, youths and insuring public; and, infrastructural development.

Raising the bar of digital operations, he was clear, “we need to continuously upgrade and innovate our processes to deliver excellent customer experiences and members satisfaction.”

“My projection is that my tenure as President of the CIIN will facilitate the transformation of the CIIN Secretariat with the state-of-the-art facilities that would stimulate digital operations and processes, enhance excellent work culture which results in quality customer experience in all our deliverables. Smart Technologies and digital solutions would be deployed to achieve this together with a viable business model,” he stated.

Igbiti therefore, implored his professional colleagues to collaborate with him “in this new dispensation as the task ahead calls for teamwork and effective collaboration.”

In his welcome address, the former President, Sir Muftau Oyegunle, passed a vote of confidence on Igbiti who he said, “is a tenacious and resilient leader and his reign will be beneficial to the Institute. I can confidently say this because of his trajectory of success in various positions and capacities occupied in the industry.”

“During my tenure as the 50th president, Mr. Igbiti’s comradeship and understanding is one worth applauding, he exhibited professionalism and integrity which made the administration a sensation and with good memories for the future,” Oyegunle declared.

Admitting how happy and fulfilled he was, Oyegunle said Igbiti is a professional colleague and friend, “He has proven to be a man of ethics and professionalism and I am immensely grateful to God who has preserved us to witness this day and this remarkable occasion.”
