AXA Mansard Health has been named Health Maintenance Organisation (HMO) of the Year by Afriglobal Medicare Limited, in recognition of its contribution to healthcare delivery, service excellence and innovation in Nigeria’s health insurance sector.
The award, presented by the leading West African healthcare brand, underscores the growing importance of private-sector innovation and service quality in expanding access to affordable and efficient healthcare amid rising demand for health insurance coverage.
Afriglobal Medicare, an ISO-certified healthcare service provider and diagnostic centre, said the recognition reflects AXA Mansard Health’s leadership in delivering healthcare solutions and its commitment to improving customer experience.

The development comes against the backdrop of efforts to deepen health insurance coverage in Nigeria, where access to affordable healthcare remains a major concern for households and businesses.
Recent data from the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) indicated that about 22 million Nigerians are now covered by health insurance, representing an increase of about six million people from 2023. More than N70 billion has also been channelled into the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) to strengthen frontline healthcare delivery and improve access for vulnerable Nigerians.
Industry observers say the growth in health insurance coverage presents significant opportunities for HMOs and insurers, but also places greater pressure on operators to improve service delivery, claims management, provider networks and digital healthcare solutions.
For AXA Mansard Health, the latest recognition comes as the company continues to position service quality and healthcare innovation as key components of its strategy to deepen its presence in the market.
